To the Deep South and beyond...

November/December, 2015:  A few days before Thanksgiving, we left the winter of the north and began a 5,000 mile journey to the coast of North Carolina and then down to the southern tip of Florida.  Our journeys brought us to family in lower Michigan and in Cincinnati.  We also visited numerous NPS sites on our travels:  Cape Lookout National Seashore, Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, Canaveral National Seashore, Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, Ocmulgee National Monument, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Big South Fork National Recreation Area.  Once to warmer climates, we camped most of the way.  In the midst of this adventure, we hopped on board a cruise ship and journeyed deep into the Caribbean (more on that in another blog)!  Six weeks later, just after the 1st of the year, we returned to the heart of winter in the Keweenaw.
